Newark, DE - Battle of Cocch's Bridge

As the legend goes, the Battle of Cooch’s Bridge is where the revolutionary army (in this case the Delaware militia) first fought under new American flag with Betsy Ross’s “Stars and Stripes”. During the fighting, one unfortunate Redcoat got his head shot off. On foggy nights you might see his body walking along route 4 in Newark.
